Inside the folder for my blog, there is a folder titled _vti_cnf and I am not sure what that is. Would this be the root directory that I sometimes read about or is this something leftover from version 1.01 that I should get rid of? It is a fold that exists in addition to the wp-admin, wp-images and wp-includes folders. I am trying to understand if this _vti_cnf folder is necessary or not. Due to the problems I'm having with upgrading from 1.01 to 1.2, I am straining to find a solution to the problems I'm having.

It's not necessary, but it's not affecting your system either.
    Just ignore it :)
