• Hi folks,
I’ve seen some threads about this topic, but it wasn’t ever very specific (or maybe I missed it). The topic is whether there’s a way for WordPress to automatically check the email address for postings on a regular basis so that it will automatically post to the blog. Some topics mention something called a “cron” job. I’m afraid I have no idea what that is! Is someone will to provide a step-by-step instruction on how to set something like that up? Thanks!

  • well here’s another one that would be interested in such a script/plugin or whatever…

You will have to contact your host for a CRON job to be set up.

But some ISP’s doesn’t allow you to set up your own cron jobs, as mine. 🙁
I have looked somewhat for another solution but not found anytjing that I’m happy with, and I mostly want it for posting from my mobile phone. With picture preferably…

Well, what do I put in the cron job. I figured out the place where I put it– do I put the URL where it needs to look for the job? The whole URL?

Is it possible to run the cron job on another server?
I have a linux server at home which I can configure to do anything with – but my blog on another server with a hosting server and they do not allow Cron Jobs.
I too am trying to get moblogging to work.
hmmm – maybe I should just host the whole thing from my local server instead…..
    Cheers,
    Sean.

you may look for various website monitoring services and get the required page checked by it at regular intervals… tat way it will work.
    abhi.

isn’t it possible to work the way blogger does?

you can use a remote server, like a home box, to run the script, just cron it to hit the url when you want it to happen.

and what is the URL ?

ok I think I figured it out WordPress/wp-mal.php but when I ping that I do get a message but I also get a lot of crypto junk from the signature of the email (it was a signed email). How do I clean this up ?
