If you need to use phpMyAdmin to correct your wp_options
table remember siteurl
is your WordPress address (URI) and home
is your Blog Address (URI).
I don’t know what I’ve done … the WordPress folder has been renamed and the WP address is the new folder name as is the blog address. When I now try to go to my admin folder I get an error page http://mysite.com/WordPress/wp-admin/index.php.
Does the wp-admin index.php file need to be changed to reflect the new folder name?
No, don’t do that!
Either move it back to where it was and then follow the link MichaelH provided, or try this to fix your self-created db issue: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/
I haven’t moved any files. Under the “newfolder” that was the WordPress folder everything has stayed the same. The .htaccess file is in place etc.I see the note regarding deleting the cache files but when I look under wp-content I don’t see cache folder or files even though I have WP2.
When I type in the url of the page http://mysite.com/newfolder – I get my blog looking terrific. It’s the admin panel that is no longer available
Could this be it: When I look at the page that’s the leadin to the admin panel – I see /WordPress beside the little X button to delete. Could it be that the webhost only recognizes the /WordPress folder as they had it already installed for me
Using phpMyAdmin what are the values in wp_options
for siteurl
and home
?
They are set at the new folder http://mysite.com/newfolder
both are the same and no slashes after “newfolder”
So your wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes folders are in the folder called newfolder?
Yes – nothing was changed just a rename of the folder and like I say – the blog is coming up fine. It’s just the admin as I get an error when I try to get in
What error?
Your admin login is at http://mysite.com/newfolder/wp-login.php correct?
Under the root of the new folder there are the wp files, .htacess and there is a file called wp-login.php
Also on reading the directions it said to delete the cache file under the wp content folder. I couldn’t find it but I did find a cache.php file under the folder wp-includes. This is a file not a folder. Is this the file I’m supposed to delete? Maybe thats the problem
wp-includes/cache.php is a part of the normal WordPress distribution so don’t delete that.
What error are you getting on login?
When I try to login to the admin panel I’m getting my site error page and the address at the top is this:
http://mysite.com/WordPress/wp-admin/index.php
Somehow it’s still trying to pull up the WordPress folder that has been renamed yet the php admin panel both home and the blog url are reading the http://mysite.com/newfolder
And like I say, the blog is fine it’s pulling properly from the newfolder
Maybe need to delete (or rename) your .htaccess file.
That didn’t work – I’m still getting an error page on my admin panel login. It loads this page http://mysite.com/WordPress/wp-admin/index.php
