• I’m installing WordPress on my Laptop. I have PHP Version 5.2.6, MYSQL Version 5.0 and Apache 2.2 Installed.

When I run http://localhost/wp-admin/install.php I receive the following:

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

What do I need to do to fix this?

    Thanks

    Alfie

  • The issue with with your server – not WordPress. Have a look at some of the links in installing WordPress locally.

I downloaded DesktopServer and used followed the procedure in the documentation. During installation I receive: “MYSQL connection failed. DesktopServer was unable to create the needed user and database credentials.”

I clicked on the “OK” button and DesktopServer proceeded to “create” the website.

I receive the same message in my first post.
