• OK here is my problem. I download Keith McDuffee’s catagory visibility plugin, and i think it really screwed up my wordpress. So I then downloaded Rich Hamilton’s version of the catagory visability and when i went to “manage” in my admin area it doesn’t show the “catagory visibility tab”. My custom smiley’s plugin WAS working prior to downloading keith’s catagory visibilty plugin; and now it just stopped working; and it will not show a “custom smiley’s tab” in the manage area. I”m not sure what to do. I checked my cache folder in wp-content; and I don’t have one, so I manually created a cache folder in wp-content, and the plugins still don’t work; and I don’t think that wordpress is using the cache folder in wp-content.

PS. I also have the plugins activated but it just won’t show anything in the “manage” area. The tabs for these plugins does not show.

First, use one or the other, not both.

Second, use Rich’s version. Remove Keith’s non-working one.

Third, restore your database backup and your site and try again, without installing and activating things randomly next time. There’s no telling what you did to the database by activating broken plugins.

Yes, you can break things beyond our ability to explain how to fix them. Best advice: Always keep a backup.

Yeah, I don’t have (both) of them installed. Right now, I just have Rich’s version on my site.

I’ll try restoring the database and see what happens. Hopefully that will do the trick.

    Thanks for your help!

I tried to “repair” my wordpress database and that didn’t work. I really don’t want to delete the recent posts that I’ve made to my wordpress site. I have found a backup (dump) of a previous wordpress database prior to getting hacked. But the SQL is in notepad/text format. I don’t know if that’s alright or not. Do I have to delete my wp_posts when restoring my wordpress database?
