    1.2 released.

If you want your wordpress site to look good on the Wii browser, check this plugin out.

I don’t know if anybody would experience the same problem as I did, but I setup this plugin and once it was activated, my website came to a screeching, screaming halt and has stayed that way for over 4 hours. I tried everything I know (and I’m not a noob), and the only way I could get the site back up and going was to reinstalled the WP files so it would default to the default theme, then I could get into the admin and do some things to get it working again. I’m not saying this is a bad plugin, I’m just saying BEWARE and backup before you go playing around with it.

And if that happens in the future, just FTP to the site and delete the plugin from the wp-content/plugins directory.

Yeah Han, I did that first thing, but still couldn’t get into the admin console. I even deleted the theme I was using as well which left just the default theme and that still didn’t work. Finally got tired of trying to track down which file was screwed and just copied all new WP files. Whichever file was screwed up was overwritten and that solved the problem…wierd..

    Hi houseofboyd.

You mentioned trying to get back to the default theme and deleting/reinstalling themes. The WordPress Wii Edition plugin is not intended to replace your current/desktop theme.

The WordPress Wii Edition Plugin is a plugin that automatically renders an optimized version of your blog when visitors come to your blog on a Nintendo Wii running the Opera browser. Wii’s are automatically detected, there is no configuration needed.

Please be sure to carefully follow the installation directions as provided below:

Download the WordPress Wii Edition Plugin v1.2 (http://harper.wirelessink.com/?p=104)
Drop the wp-wii.php file in your wp-content/plugins directory
Drop the wp-wii directory in your wp-content/themes directory
Click the ‘Activate’ link for the WordPress Wii Edition on your “Plugins” page (in the WordPress admin interface)

If installed as suggested above the plugin does not overwrite other templates and can be easily activated/deactivated. Perhaps the files were inadverently upload to the incorrect locations – thereby overwriting files it should not have. I hope this helps – we certainly want you to enjoy the plugin and not have issues with it. If I can help in any other way please let me know.

    Dave

Thanks for your input Dave. I’m aware it wasn’t intended to overwrite anything. When I activated this plugin, choas ensued. Exactly what it affected, I really can’t explain because I didn’t go through every file to try and determine. But once it was installed and activated, nothing would load. Since I was still in the admin panel in another window, I deactivated the plugin and still, nothing would load. I deleted the plugin altogether, still nothing. Refreshed the admin panel and then it wouldn’t load. Deleted the theme I had been using and replaced it with the default theme, still nothing. Finally replaced all the wp files and it started loading again. Again, I’m not blaming your plugin, but something severe happened and I really can’t make heads or tails out of it. Just one of those weird things I guess..I too had thought that I may have overwritten something when I uploaded the plugin, but I double checked before I deleted it and the file and folder were uploaded correctly. I may try it again when I have some time.

Hi again. Thanks for the additional feedback houseofboyd. We haven’t seen this happen during our own testing (and many others have installed with zero issues.) I have no explanation why this would occur. If you give it a go again – let us know – we’d be happy to “look over your sholuder” and help sort out what might be happening. Happy New Year.

    Will do Dave.
