gives me an error of 302 and additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Did you change anything or add a plugin before this happened? Delete the plugin(s) if so and try again.
Also did you mess with either of the 2 uri's in your
admin -> Options -> General
