Media Library

I have uploaded around 300 images into our media library. When trying to add a picture to a page or post it take about 10 minutes for the media library to show images. Then I have to flip through 10 or so pages to view actual image I want. This all takes about a half hour to add one photo. Is there a different way to access the photo to put on a page or post? It seams there needs to be a drastic improvement to this area of word press. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
