I did an upgrade but with issues, so I did a fresh install to the new version. I went through all the steps, but when I put in the login information and the password that was provided I get a “Page cannot be displayed” error.

I can get to the dashboard if I type wp-admin/index.php…but the login.php is broken or something. Any ideas.

    Thanks

    Can someone please help.

I think im getting the same or a similar error.
Once i hit submit after inserting admin/pass

    the
    /wp-login.php

    url displays

    “Found
    The document has moved here.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. “

(The “here” is a link, wich dont log you in at all.)

The problem is somehow solved by hitting the back button… but users who never been to site before dont know this. And this error replicates it self to other areas of site. Like when i activate plugins.

if i go back to my url/install folder
    http://www.misjonskirken-narvik.net/wordpress
i see the page and im logged in
as admin and can access back-end

Yup, that is exactly what I get as well ! I got it with the old version of WordPress as well. But the new version is worse. It happens when I try to change ANYTHING. Even a template.

If I cannot get this fixed, I will go to EXPRESSION ENGINE

Wow.. Three 500 errors in a row on the forum… I see a trend!

Which version did you install? Is your server configured for “Fast-CGI”?

If so, I think I can copy and paste the answer I just typed for another (TWO) topic(s).

    And I quote…
“I’d suggest that you download 2.0.6 RC1 and see if your problem goes away:

    The download is here:
    http://wordpress.org/beta/wordpress-2.0.6-RC1.zip

Your issue is related to Ticket 3215, which I’ve described in my 2.0.6 Feature List ( http://www.thecodecave.com/article297 ) :

“Ticket #3215 – “Login & Update functions everything is broken” – PHP can talk to the server in different languages. On servers using the “Fast CGI” language, an error 500 was received when reaching administration pages. The code was rewritten to have special handling for Fast CGI servers.”

BrianLayman = my new hero… it worked!!! No more errors.
