WP 2.0.5 receive email when someone posts comments

    HI All (again!)

    After a very trouble free and easy upgrade to wp 2.0.5 i am facing the same email issues i had (and gave up with!) in the past.

    I simply want to be emailed when someone leaves a post on my site. I am not sure what to change to start/enable this feature.

    This is on IIS6 / PHP5 / mysql 5 / wp 2.0.5

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Since you’re running Windows you’ll need to make sure you have an SMTP server installed. I think Windows 2003 comes with one. Enable that or install one.

    Once you’ve done that edit your php.ini file so that the SMTP server points to 127.0.0.1.

    Another option to try is simply point the SMTP server to your ISPs mail server.

    You’ll need to restart IIS.

    I am running exchange on the same box and edited the file in c:\php.

    I still could not receive email.

    I then change the ip to my isp’s smtp and hey presto, it works perfectly.
