• I have a question.
Can I setup two languages weblogs such as Japanese and English using single database name?

  • Yes.
Serendipity has done it, but I don’t know how – sorry !

Yes. WP is in unicode (utf-8) out of the box, which helps a lot. My blog (click on my name on the right) is bilingual French/English. I’ve only recently added some language switching features using the language picker plugin, but don’t even use all of its features. I’ve got bilingual posts (not all, it would just take too long) but don’t switch the menu text depending on the language yet. Steph at Climb to the Stars has also done some rather technical work (with javascript etc.) that helps her blog in two languages.

hey, that language picker plugin may be the exact thingie I always wanted 😀
    thanks for pointing it!

Does anyone know where a plugin is available ‘now’ that will help me deliver a blog for a Japanese NPO in english and japanese? I’ve tried all mentioned on this site and I only get server errors and pages not found…

I don’t know about Japanese, but on my blog, I’ve set up a bunch of links in my sidebar that link to translated versions of my site. While it’s not perfect, I hear (from others, and the French one I read myself) that it’s easy to get the gist of what is being said.

    The link ( http://avinash.apeshell.net ) is incorrect.

    No, it works 🙂
But @ aetherFox – making google to translate your post or having a multilingual blog (=writing in more languages) isn’t the same 🙂

I know it isn’t, but it was an alternative, and very very easy option.
