fatal error

So, for the last few days, we’ve been getting a fatal error when trying to open “all pages” in dashboard for our site.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /home/filmprof/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1449

So, here’s the issue: our host allows 256m of memory (bandwidth and server space are separate, obviously). This is more than any other host site we’ve seen for “shared space” as most are much less. We can’t increase this without going to VPS or something similar, which we really can’t justify at this time.

It isn’t affecting the front end of the site. And that’s the only dashboard page it’s coming up on.

We’ve disabled every plug-in… and while it worked momentarily, when I added back in the absolutely required plugins to keep the site streamlined and how we need it, it went back to the error. We don’t want to switch the theme. And we actually tried it briefly on Monday. We switched back to Twenty-Eleven, refreshed things, and tried loading that page in dashboard… same error. So, we switched back to our preferred theme… in order to edit a particular post, we can work around it, same for adding new posts, but it’s still a bit frustrating.

We were wondering if there’s something maybe not playing well between the plugins and WP? We only have six basic plug-ins running. I checked around on Monday to see if others have had problems with those plug-ins, but no one has any major complaints.
