• Hi! I just started using Pachyderm and am new to the whole blogging thing. I bought a domain recently too. I was wondering how I can have a static home page with recent blog posts as well. It could be a slide show or just a plug in. I’ve tried looking all over the internet, but I can’t seem to find anything that works with Pachyderm. If you could reply with really easy instructions that would be great! Thanks!

Hi! You can use a static home page with a Recent Posts sidebar widget to do this.

You could also create a Sticky Post with your static content that would appear at the top of the home page, then recent posts would follow beneath.

You could create a custom page template to display your posts the way you want, but that gets to programming and is not something I can explain easily.

Pachyderm should work with most up-to-date, well-coded plugins — it’s a fairly basic theme as far as programming goes.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Caroline!

I tried the sticky post on a recent post home page. It seemed to work, but my sticky post was too long for the preview of the sticky post. I was wondering how I could change the preview length to show the whole post for just this sticky post.

    Thank you!

    Hi!

It’s not an easy fix if you’re not comfortable with code, but you can create a child theme to overwrite Pachyderm’s content.php, then within your child theme’s content.php, add an if/then statement to check for sticky posts with is_sticky(), and output the_content() instead of the_excerpt() for those posts.

Pachyderm is a perfect theme for posting a poem on a static page.

Is there a simple/easy way to remove the “Home”. Or is it possible to edit HOME and use it for a static article?
