• Thanks to the All-In-One-SEO plugin, which shifts the edit/quick edit/trash controls all around (making it too easy to click “trash”), I accidentally deleted a post and all the comments — when I was trying to “edit” it.

This was a disaster. A nervous search turned up a simple solution that I wasn’t even aware of. (I’m a dope – it’s so obvious.) Go to your Posts page, and look in your WordPress “trash” section (it’s listed up top next to All, Published, Drafts…

I’ve been using WordPress for YEARS and never needed to check the Trash.

You should see a number there — in my case it was just 1 because I had accidentally deleted just 1 post. I clicked restore, and BAM, the post was back and so were all the comments! But it was not published. Restoring it put it back into DRAFT status. So I had to republish, but it even republished it with the orginal date. So I’m back to where I need to be.

I can’t remmember where I found the suggestion to look in the Trash bin — but a million thanks to the good soul who posted that. I was sweating bullets. If this helps just one other blogger, I’m happy. I figured I needed to pay it back…
