• Hi guys, I have installed wordpress into the root of my domain but i wish to setup an alternative index.php page to the one that ships with WordPress.

Is it possible to alter WP so that it uses a different page other than index.php for its homepage?

  • I don’t think that’s a good idea. There are certain functions in WP that call for the index.php file (like the paged view of posts) – so, they would stop working if you rename the index.

I suppose I could just do a .htaccess modification which sets homepage.php my root default instead of the wordpress index.php page
