• So, I am creating a new site for a church. I am a brand new, amateur site creator. I know this is subjective to each individual opinion and use. However, I would like to ask for that opinion as to what the best theme for my purpose would be. I have an example site I am looking at.
I do not need my site to be exactly the same but would like some of the features such as a slider theme for announcements with an unlimited number of slides available. Drop down or flag out menus with multiple levels. And a calender area that can be used to place multiple events on the individual dates with those event names being linked to a page with more information about that event.
I understand some of these aspects may need to added as a widget.
If you could give me a theme as a starting place would be great.
My example site is http://www.jeffnaz.org created by FaithConnector Websites. Thanks.

  • Start by looking at themes on this site — http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

They are all tested and meet WP standards, and are supported on these forums. If you buy a commercial theme, you won’t get support here so make sure support is included with the purchase.

All of what you mentioned can be done with WP — either as part of a theme or by using plug-ins.

Difficult to recommend specific themes, but there are quite a few WordPress themes around specifically designed for churches that include church specific features. Just do a search for church WordPress themes.
