Posting images via XML-RPC from a script/batch file

I have aa blog that I am using to showcase some of my photography.
I have slowly started populating it by uploading some images using the Dashboard Add Media link.
However, what would be of great use to me – would be to be able to do the following:

1) Create a folder on my laptop called “UploadToWordpress”
2) I copy all the images I want to upload into this folder
3) I run a script or app – which then XML-RPC posts each of these images to my WordPress account. Each image is uploaded to its own post page – and the PublishedDate of the image is set to the date/time that the image was taken

I’ve seen some PHP scripts that can do similar – but to do this, I would then need to FTP the files to a server, and the run the PHP script.
I’m looking at a really simple way of doing the above steps

Any suggestions?
