   I am using the WP-Forum plugin from fahlstad. Does anyone know of a way to give a user moderator status, meaning: give the user the ability to edit and delete forum posts but restrict that particular user from posting and editing postings and pages on the main site?

   not an issue anymore. I decided to use PHPBB instead of the WP-Forum plugin.
