• Hi, i´m wanting to access the webmaster tools…

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

    but in the tools section i only can find “press this” and “categories and tags converter”

    no webmaster tools in sight…

    And the verification isn´t working either. I go to the Google Webmaster tools page and copy that weird link:
    <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”IjzT712QiNUNOF9nEtVOTZQg16bI8IIdwenzshaqD0M” />
    and paste it in the header section. Then i click verify and it just says “unable to verify”

    i just don´t get it…

  • this forum here is for WordPress.org – your link refers to WordPress.com

    this might be the problem.

    .org does not have ‘webmaster tools’ – you can possibly get a similar functionality by using a plugin – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=webmaster+

    paste it in the header section

    is that in header.php of the theme you are currently using in the site you are trying to verify?

    yeah, i copied that in the header section.

    now i also used a plugin from your link and copied the content, but it´s still won´t verify

    can it be that it takes some time to update, so i can verify it in my google webmasters account?
    wordpress.org seems to be alot slower in updating changes than it used to be the case with wordpress.com

    When you use the software from WordPress.org, you’re hosting your own site. How fast changes get made only depends on how fast you make them.

    When you visit your site and view source, can you see the verification code there?
