I would like to change my site log-in User Name to a different name for personal reasons. Is this possible?

    All advice appreciated,

    sincerely,

    chiron34 (not my site name)

  • Site login name… at YOUR site… or here on the forums?

    Rev Voodoo,

Thanks for your quick response. I would like to change the User Name on my own website back-end log-in form. I am quite happy to keep using chiron34 in the WordPress.org forums.

OK… Well you can change your display name easy enough…. is that good enough?, through your profile page

Otherwise, I believe the process is to create a new user with the appropriate username, as an admin

Then delete your profile, and when deleting it asks who to transfer your posts to, which would be your new profile

I would, of course, back up my database completely before doing such a thing – that way if it goes belly-up, you could restore your site

    Rev Voodoo,

Thanks. That is helpful advice, but the process is little more involved than I thought it would be. Actually, no one else sees my website log-in admin name so on reflection, this is probably just an ego thing. I’ll have a think about what you said but it seems there is a good argument to maintain the status quo.

Thanks for taking the trouble to brief me.
