    1. Download and install WordPress on the same server as Joomla
    2. Install the «FG Joomla to WordPress» plugin from the menu Plugins > Add new
    3. Activate the plugin
    4. Run the migration from the menu Tools > Import > Joomla (FG)

Yep – done all of the above – just does not work – nothing imported.

Tried a number of times now- following instructions carefully.

Which error message did you get?

No error messages – just does nothing, I’m afraid

Not sure how this is resolved, but I have the same issue.
After clicking import, I get no feedback, no import, nothing.
    Anyone have any answers?
    thanks

As seen with you, PDO must be activated in php.ini.

I see the same thing. I am on WPEngine, and am asking them about PDO.

Is “1. Download and install WordPress on the *same server as Joomla*” really a requirement? This is extremely limiting.

    Thanks!

No it is not necessary to install WordPress on the same server as Joomla. The only requirement is that the WordPress server must access to the Joomla database, not necessary on the same server.
My method is to import the Joomla database on localhost, install WordPress on localhost, do the migration on localhost and finally export WordPress to the online server.

Kerfred, Unfortunately, I still get the same as artroom, “After clicking import, I get no feedback, no import, nothing.”

Can you implement any kind of feedback or logging? like…attempting to connect to remote database, connection good, looking for {prefix}content table…, etc.?

    Update…well…sheepish grin.
I took a spin through the code…it seems quite lovely.

I then did some research, and found that my Joomla prefix had changed during one of the conversions when the site was moved between dev and test.

I got almost 300 posts and 67 categories in almost no time. Kudos, Kerfred! And I do see some print “Erreur ! Blah” commands.

In my case, in spite of the flagrant user error, it would have been great to see {prefix}content table not found.

An error message is displayed in that case since version 1.9.0.
And there is now a button to test the connection to the Joomla database.

Thanks very much for accepting my input and incorporating it.
