• I attempted to upgrade my site to 3.4.2 and now I can’t access the admin portion of my website.

    http://www.thecompass4life.com/wp-admin/

    I’m getting a 500 server error and I don’t know what’s causing it. I tried deleting and re-uploading wp-admin and wp-includes folder.

Thanks in advanced for your help!

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Additional Info:

i am actually logged into the site still. For me the Admin bar still shows up at the top of every screen throughout the site.

    gah! that work @esmi

Now the back end works but only for 2011 theme. So what could be wrong with my theme??? I’m using the Echelon theme from mysitemyway

I can only suggest that you try contacting the theme’s developers. Perhaps the theme is simply not compatible with WP 3.4.2?
