   Greetings,

   I run a personal weblog on bekkelund.net (in Norwegian). During the latest couple of months, trackbacks sent from other weblogs to my weblog, has received a 406 HTTP status code, and the trackback fails.

   In example, Movable Type returns the following error message:

   Ping '[URL]' failed: HTTP error: 406 Not Acceptable

   ([URL] replaces the trackback URL of my weblog.)

   In a test with 'lynx -head -dump', I get a temporarily redirect to the original post (not the trackback URL), which in turn is served as 'text/html'. AFAIK, this means that trackback implementations will not get the correct response ( as 'text/xml') on the trackback they send.

   So far, I am totally clueless. I've searched the forums as well as the web, without getting a single hit on a similar problem. I've also removed my .htaccess files in my search for errors, without any luck. The only changes that I've made during the these months, is the regular WordPress upgrades.

   Any clues that help me get my trackbacks working, will be greatly appreciated.

   http://wordpress.org/support/topic/110898 has the answer which is that the Apache plug-in mod_security is the cause.
