• I am thinking about using WordPress for my own homepage. Whilst I do want a blog, I also have a lot of static pages. I know that you can make “pages” in WordPress. I am just wondering whether the wordpress website is itself running WordPress (and plugins I guess) and whether this includes all of the site including this forum.

    Thanks for any information on this.

  • WordPress -> http://wordpress.org/development/ (Blog)
    MediaWiki -> http://codex.wordpress.org/ (Docs)
    bbPress -> http://wordpress.org/support/ (Support)

    Everything else would be a mishmash of other tools and code. So no, wordpress.org is not run fully from WordPress.

    Thanks for the response and for the further information on what tools are used.

    Is it feasible to use WordPress as a basic CMS for developing small sites? Most CMS are far too complex for my needs and I am especially not interested in multiple access rights and roles and other things which tend to over-complicate systems. I just want to be able make websites using a stable, supported and flexible system. Whilst WordPress is obviously primarily a blogging tool it seems to suitable for making such websites as well. Or am I mistaken in this?

    Thanks.

    I frequently utilise wordpress as a CMS, and with the use of some plugins etc it is indeed possible to develop small sites utilising the platform.
