   I've searched the posts, and found a lot on this topic, much of which says to post to a category to get it to show up. Catch22: how can I post to it if it doesn't show?

   Um. In the wp-admin/post.php screen.... at the far right is a series of blue header boxes with titles and "+" symbols. One of them is "Categories". Write your post, click on the "+" symbol next to "Categories" at the right, select the category to which the post you've written belongs, then click the "Publish" button....
