• The website is:

    http://www.gavinphotography.com/blog/

    I wanna keep it simple. It is mostly for showing my photography for wedding and engagement clients, while also showing personal photography too. So I’m mostly showing images and slideshows. I don’t have much content yet, but that will come in time.

    Please give me feedback (be brutal) so that I can make it better in the long run.

  • the only thing which bugged me is the header image corners are a little fragmented.

    and I’m not real fond of the navigation menu at the top… don’t know how I’d change it, but just not crazy about it.

    other than that looks great, those pics of your girlfriend are awesome.

    photos usually show up better on a black or dark background, in my opinion. Maybe given the wedding theme you could lighten it some, but darker background is better for images, every time, in my opinion.

    Also, if the photos are your meat, stay light on the starch, ie content. Good photos speak for themselves.

    I think the pages look busy and would just suggest you exercise restraint. Blogging is usually crowded, you might look at other solutions for your main page and portfolio pages, and then have a “small” blog that doesn’t take up so much real estate.

    I have been using gallery2 for clients, http://gallery.menalto.com/ , and really like it. It’s also free open source software based in php and mysql.

    Best of luck!

    Nice I’ll try that gallery. Thanks a bunch for the input; it really helps.

    @jetshack:

    Yeah I have my main site gavinphotography.com on a black background to pull out the photos, but decided to try a white background to ease up on the reading in the blog (i hate reading white on black). I’ll try a black template to see how it works.

    @scormeny

    I like the idea of slimming it up, since most of my competition is really cluttered. The one thing I don’t want to make brides (which are usually breezing through and not computer savvy) click too often to get to the images. I want them to scroll, and scroll, and keep scrolling, getting new and great images as they keep going. Whadda think guys?
