    How much should I expect? A 2.7MB (2448×3264) photo has been compressed to 2.4MB. Is this what should be expected or is something not working correctly?

    Debug info is:
    computed jpegtran path: jpegtran
    jpegtran location (using ‘which’): /usr/bin/jpegtran
    computed optipng path: optipng
    optipng location (using ‘which’): /usr/bin/optipng
    optipng version: OptiPNG version 0.7.3
    computed gifsicle path: gifsicle
    gifsicle location (using ‘which’): /usr/bin/gifsicle
    gifsicle version: LCDF Gifsicle 1.67
    safe mode: Off
    Operating System: Linux
    exec(): enabled
    getimagesize(): OK
    mime_content_type(): missing

    Thanks in advance

    It can vary greatly depending on how new your camera is, and if you’ve done any editing with something like photoshop or gimp. I’ve got a pretty new camera, and it makes images 3-4 MB each (at the same resolution). Optimization gets me right about to the same size that you’re seeing.

    Keep in mind that this is ‘lossless’ optimization. We don’t scale back the quality, the tools simply re-encode the data using newer/better algorithms.
