• When I try to update any of my WordPress sites or plugins on my server I get a semi-blank screen with the left sidebar. The black admin bar at the top does not get executed and the update does not get downloaded. The whole installation proces just stops at that point.

I think it’s a server issue, but to be honest I’m completely lost and have no idea how to solve this issue. Where do I start?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Well, I know Ive tried this before and sadly it didnt work. But just to be sure I’ve done it again and deleted all the plugin’s. Sadly with no result. Even a bare WordPress install will not do any updates and still the same blank screen.

Have you checked your site’s error logs? It’s possible that you have a PHP memory issue.
