• I am looking to sell some art with WooCommerce and was hoping to use the label “Categories” as an umbrella for several artists.

How do I rename it to appear as “Artist” or “Artists” in the right places across the front-end and back-end? Is there a CMS solution I am not seeing?

    Thank you in advance.

How about using attributes instead? http://wcdocs.woothemes.com/user-guide/setting-up-product-attributes/

Otherwise you can ‘localise’ categories to be artists. http://wcdocs.woothemes.com/user-guide/localization/

Thank you. Great idea with localization!

Also considering attributes now, but it seems that categories have a more prominent place.

    But some concerns:

    – Essentially, there’ll only be a few artists (under 10).
    – There may be more attributes and relate to other things (material, year, size)

So what is your call on this one?

Update about attributes: I played around with attributes, but the issue is that they are not clickable on the product page, while the category is. I think I will use that, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Update about localization: I took a look at the plugin, and it seems pretty clunky to have something like that running on WP for a simple translation of one word (plus any plural or URL variants)… no?

Question: I also realized that I cannot find a place to rename the terms “product” and “products” anywhere. I would like it to be “artwork” and “artworks” as appropriate — would you suggest localization also for this?

Any tips? Thank you in advance 🙂
