I’m administering the website http://www.dspaneas.com and the last time I got a notification for a post was in April. The blog author has published 12 posts since then and claims no one is getting notification emails.

    1. I tested it out by adding a test category, subscribing to the test category, and then creating a post in that category- I get nothing, not in spam folder either.

    2. I also noticed that there were dozens of unconfirmed subscription emails which led me to check whether email notifications were even being sent. So I subscribed using a spare email, and got nothing, not in the spam folder either.

    3. I used the send Email feature, and sent a message to subscribers of the “test category”, and got that email fine.

    4. In the settings, I clicked the “Send Email Preview” button and got all 4 short/long/plain/html versions of the most recent post OK.

    5. At the top of the settings, there is a warning message “You appear to be sending notifications from an email address from a different domain name to your blog, this may result in failed emails” – but I don’t see how that’s an issue. Ie. the blog Author’s email is …@gmail.com and I’m receiving the Email Previews OK.

please give me an idea of what the issue could be!

  • @maureenton,

Many hosts are now blocking emails that are sent using off-domain email addresses. The site in question is dspaneas.com and this is hosted by DreamHost. This thread from another DreamHost user explains DreamHosts policy of no longer allowing off-domain emails and also lists the steps you need to take to fix this issue.

perfect- that seemed to work great!
I just added a new wp user with the email address noreply@dspaneas.com and then used that as the sender in the subscribe2 settings. I didn’t even have to actually create the email account. It just works now.
