Forums » Fixing WordPress » How to enable RSS feeds?

  • When I click the RSS entries link at the bottom of my posts, I get a “page cannot be found” error in IE. I don’t have a default reader client program installed. Is that necessary or is there something in WordPress admin I need to enable?

    Thanks,
    Brett

Are you saying people should just link to my blog from their website? What if they don’t have a website? Doesn’t RSS notify people of new posts? This is what I’d like to enable.

No, I’m saying it would be useful for support volunteers to see your blog.

    Your feed is fine:

    http://www.cygen.com/blog/index.php/feed/

It’s the ‘feed:’ prefixed to the url appearing in your rss link which is confusing your browser (and you). It’s a not all that well-supported protocol which is supposed to start any application on your computer which supports it. It works like a ‘mailto:’ link opening your email client. Of course, you need to have a syndication reader which knows about ‘feed:’ installed, and so on.

If you so desire, you can edit out the ‘feed:’ from the rss links in your theme template(s).

Thanks. Can I instruct as an option for people to remove the “feed:” part and just paste the URL (the one you’ve pasted) into the readers?

You can instruct. You can edit the link. Do what you feel best works for you.
