A Directory theme – for listing professionals

    There are a number of directory themes about, but I have no idea which one to choose, or whether I have seen them all or the one that would suit my needs.
    I need one that will allow a listing of professional practitioners. So they each have their own single page in a professional category. This page would include a brief professional CV, a photo of them and downloadable qualifications and reviews.

    It needs to allow either the admin or the practitioner to input the information

    It needs to be fully searchable, SEO friendly so that an individual practitioners page can be found via Google etc.

    I would love it too if it had a cool design and didn’t look too clunky like some of these Directory themes that have seem to have been design for the “i made $5000 dollars on my first day” listing websites.

    Anyone got any bright ideas?

    Hiya!

    You’re spot on that there are many available! Many are clunky and honestly I’ve yet to see one that covers 100% what a Directory Plugin should cover. That being said, we are trying to build our Directory Plugin to fill that need.

    It’s made a little differently than most so it’s actually a little more flexible than you will find elsewhere. This also makes it very advanced. We have recoded and rebuilt it on the CustomPress plugin code. Which means it’s actually a Custom Post Type that can be used as is, or if you are comfortable with custom post types and how they operate, you can tweak build and construct your idea of the perfect Directory Plugin.

    I have similar request, tried lots of themes. Also bought some but not there jet.

    I never came back to post as I the notify post must have gone to junk for some reason.

    I would love to try the directory plugin, but like some of the directory themes, buy first then find out its not what you need.

    There has to be a way of building in a timeout so its usable for a month and then you have to pay and you can discard if you dont want it.

    Alot of directory themes are great if you want a list of cars, but not as a site where each entry is a person and has an editable page/post

    I am astonish, how many directories they made.
    I am familiar with http://www.hypnotherapy-directory.org.uk/ ( is my profession).
    They really did a great business. Thousands of payable members…

    I’m looking for the same type of directory plugins for a Dutch website.

    I’ve tried mingle, profile builder, wp members, member list plugin, front-end users and EP display users. None fit the bill.

    Did you ever find the right plugins?
