Ok, the problem seems to be resolved. The “exernal” service must have been shutdown for few hours, may be …

    I’m having a similar issue.

Geocoded coordinates are not correct. It seems to be geocoding the city / town but not the street address.

If you enter coordinates in the correct format, they’re not geocoded at all. If you enter an address, or coordinates in the wrong format, then the input is geocoded by the Google Maps API.

If it’s not returning the results you want, make sure you’re entering the coordinates correctly. Check the FAQ for details. There’s also a link there where you can get a pair of coordinates directly from Google Maps, which is more likely to work than one you get from a different source.

“That address couldn’t be geocoded, please make sure that it’s correct.”
I tried all ways of writing my street address but I get the same error? Why?

Danil0, what version of the plugin are you using? The last few versions give more detailed error messages, so upgrade to 1.8 if you’re not already using it.

    I m using 1.8 I downloaded from wp-admin area.

Is it only that one address that isn’t working, or do you get that error for all addresses?

Can you post all the different variants of the address that you’ve tried, so that I can test it?

I have the same error and it is so random . I can load pins with out issues until the plugin decides it does not want to work and i get the error
That address couldn’t be geocoded, please make sure that it’s correct.
That address couldn’t be geocoded, please make sure that it’s correct.

Once the plugin starts giving the error i can not enter any new pins and when i go to old pins that previously worked fine and “update” with out changing anything i get the error

That address couldn’t be geocoded, please make sure that it’s correct.
That address couldn’t be geocoded, please make sure that it’s correct.

which means it must be a plug in error. my site/page where the plugin is used is http://paintballparks.ca/park-locator/

Hi Jeremy, that error typically means that the plugin couldn’t connect to Google’s Maps API to geocode the input you entered, and doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything wrong with the plugin. There could be issues with your network or server that are interfering, or Google could be blocking requests from your netblock due to abuse, etc.

If you install the latest release candidate (http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/basic-google-maps-placemarks.1.10-rc3.zip), it will provide you with a more detailed error message. Copy/paste that message back here, along with examples of the input you’re trying, and we can try to figure out what the problem is.
