I get this message at the settings page in a subdomain multisite setup. I don’t see anything in the description that indicates it is not multisite compatible.

I have network deactivated and reactivated it. No change. What do I have to do to get this to work?

Well I discovered the answer to my own question.

The WordPress Ping Optimizer plugin must not be network activated so that it can be activated on a site-by-site basis.
