help I dont know what I am doing

okay, i purchased a domain name from register.ca and also purchased a small web hosting plan. I received a phone call asking me what I might need to expect from my web site. I explained that I have no budget to work with at it is a non profit group that I have started. I was sent a link to download wordpress and was told it was the easiest application in the world to create my site and load onto the internet. Now I am sorry for all of you who do know what you are doing, but I have no clue and just keep getting more and more frustrated with every click. Telling me to read a document as long as my arm is useless. I need clear step by step what I need to do. I managed to download wordpress and there I am. I hate when there is no useful support. can anyone help an inexperienced idiot such as myself? I just don’t know what to do, please help me
