   I've tried more than one theme and find, much to my frustration, that the Meta sidebar is missing or that my categories are not listed, only Uncategorized shows up. Is this a function of how the themes were written, a version incompatibility or what? How do I fix this or get around the problem?

   Different themes have different defaults and such.

   You might want to try using Sidebar Widgets instead. Then your sidebars will survive theme changes, if the themes are widgets-enabled.

   Is "Sidebar Widgets" a particular plug-in? If so, where do I get it? If not, do you recommend specific ones?
