I am searching for a plugin that will allow me to display posts in the sidebar that are related by category to the post a visitor is reading. Will this plugin serve that function?

Hi userofwordpress,

Unfortunately, not now. This is a page-specific plugin at the moment.

What you’re looking for is more of a related-posts plugin:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=related+posts

I don’t have a recommendation for you, but would encourage you to try a few of the higher rated, and better supported plugins a try and see if they fit your needs.
