Summary of last ‘x’ posts for each category?

Hi, I’m trying to use WP as a CMS for an e-zine, so I need a page where just the post title and the meta of the last X posts appears, ordered by category. Something like this:

*Category 1
-Post #1 title – the_meta. (more…)
-Post #2 title – the meta. (more…)
-more posts (-> link to Category 1 in order the rest of the posts)
*Category 2
-Post #3 title – the meta. (more…)
-Post #4 title – the meta. (more…)

Is it possible?
