• I am not able to add anything to my website. I am trying to upload photos, and every time I click to add a new page, link, post, media or anything at all I am directed to a page that states:

“The website cannot display the page
    HTTP 500
    Most likely causes:
    •The website is under maintenance.
•The website has a programming error.
    What you can try:
    Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.
    More information”

    Can anyone PLEASE help me?

  • So are you able to access wp-admin? Can you see the list of existing posts within admin, just not add or modify them?

I am automatically logged in when I pull up the webpage. When I try to log in through a different route I get the same message. I’m able to see everything when navigating the pages but I can’t see anything except for the home page through admin.

To be honest, this might be a little over my head.

The HTTP 500 error means that the Web server is unable to execute what should be a valid request. It is incredibly generic 😉

Possible common causes are losing connection to the database or running low on memory.

How are you hosted? If I asked you to try and edit php.ini would you know what I was talking about?

We use bluehost. When I called them they told me that this is a WP issue. Unfortunately I don’t know what you mean by php.ini

Unfortunately, I host mine locally and don’t use an external host. I assume you work through a graphical cpanel or something which I couldn’t begin to walk you through. Maybe some others have more familiarity, but we have to check whether your DB is running and try to increase the PHP memory allocation.

Well, thanks for trying anyway. I work remotely and am trying to find out if my boss uses an IT guy for anything. Hopefully I can pass this on to them. Thanks again!
