Messed up the wordpress directory
-
I think I royally messed up my wordpress.
I installed WordPress in a directory of my site called “/wp”. When I went into the wordpress options, I noticed you could change the location of your wordpress without messing with the files in the FTP.
I edited the top field from “josh.thefutureisjason.com/wp” to just “josh.thefutureisjason.com” because I wanted it to be in the root directory as oppose to the subdir. I don’t think I was supposed to do that, but I didn’t realise the difference between the top field and the bottom one, labeled “blog directory” or something to that effect.
The ringer is – this has already happened to me once. Like 2 days ago, and I went gung-ho into my FTP and started deleting everything and trying to fix it via cpanel. The whole thing was ruined. Now, Instead of doing anything I’m just going to ask for help.
The message I get when attempting to access “josh.thefutureisjason.com/wp/wp-admin” is:
“The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ”
I would love to know why changing one field in the wordpress options would annihalate my site and, additionally, put my page all out of style. The content is there, because it’s called from the remote database on my server. But what happened to my page?
I would like to know how to fix this. Any help would be VERY much appreciated, I am extremely frustrated and ready to get back to pressing words. 🙂
Thanks in advance,
Josh
