Support » Fixing WordPress » Content is King?

  • Hi. Just finished WP.org class. Am designing my first sight (albeit slowwwly). A general ques. first – I realize content is crucial, no matter how flashy a site may be. But to any of you experienced folks in the business of designing wp websites – What is the norm in terms of getting content to put on the site? I am finding that it is an exhausting process – getting material to put on the site. More specifically, I am referring to text, rather than images. There’s just got to be a better way, than listening to client say “oh ya, I’ll have to put some stuff together for you”. Sigh. I really DO want to make some money doing this someday. But, not at the rate I’m going. One can only insert so much “Loren Ipsum….”.

For my wp.org course I just took, I had to purchase a domain name, and web hosting. I built the site (Bluehost), which I’ve asked search engines to ignore (cause it’s only practice). Now, I would like to wipe the site clean and develop another site in its place (doing a whole new WP install on the Server). Is the best/cleanest way to do this FTP, and wipe out the server-side of the ledger?

Seems silly to me that you need to do a domain-name and web-hosting, just to practise wp. I should think there’d be a way to create a mock website right on your hdd. Thank You.
