In Firefox, my login page is a blank screen:

    http://futilitycloset.com/wp-login.php

I’ve tried the following measures on this page:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Login_Trouble

    1. Enable cookies. No effect.

    2. Disable plugins. No effect.

    3. Upload a fresh copy of wp-login.php. No effect.

My host doesn’t offer phpmyadmin, so I can’t edit the user table. Is there anything else I can try? It seems okay in IE. The trouble arose when my host moved my blog to a new machine, if that’s a clue. Thanks.

  • I’d be concerned about your host making that move for you…

If you can get in via IE, try going to Options -> Permalinks, setting to default and saving.

If you can’t, try temporarily removing your .htaccess file and see if that changes anything.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, I was pretty angry — they moved it without consulting me, and I’ve spent the last week trying to clean up the mess.

I just tried both of these measures (permalinks and htaccess). No luck. Anything else I can try? Thanks again for your help.

Are you saying that it worked in Firefox before your host moved your stuff? If so, it’s up to them to fix it and that’s what you should insist they do.

I’m afraid I’m with pizdin_dim on this one. Your host needs to get involved. If nothing else, make ’em check file permissions and error logs. (or if you have access to your error logs, check to see if anything is being logged when you try to reach the login page).

I tried hitting your login page with IE and I get a blank page. I wonder if you’re coasting by on a cached form post…

Something about the new install isn’t quite right.

Okay, thanks. In case I get nowhere — would a full reinstall fix this? I think the database is okay; it’s just navigation and login problems I’ve been having.

cfscare – that’s indeed the next thing I’d try, yep. Keep a copy of wp-config.php and any theme or plugin you’re attached to, then smoke the current install and reload.

Gave up and found a new host. God bless install4free.

    Handysolo..

    Blank login page..

I have had this prob for some time -occurred after I switched to new pc(not the cause I don’t think).
I tried the options/permalink suggested above and discovered the default url
    was ..http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/?p=123

I’ve been accessing wordpress with http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/ or
http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/wp-admin and end up at the blank page. This time I tried http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/?p=123 and heyyyyy. It worked -atleast I get the login page.

How do I get to the login page by using …
    http://www.mysite.com/wordpress or http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/wp-login?

I thought it had to do with file permissions or something.. I wanted to know which files/dirs need the permissions changed on them and to what exactly? Still would like to know.
