• Might have mucked something up. My site http://www.iyume.com/blog is working fine, but the RSS 2.0 link (bottom of the right menu) creates a 404 error when you click on it. The link is calling this URL – http://www.iyume.com/blog/feed/rss2/ – but there is no /feed/ subdirectory under /blog/. I tried creating one, and chmoding it to 777; that didn’t help. I replaced the original code in the index.php for the feed. Is there something else I can check out? My technical skills are limited…

    That file is there.
There won’t be a /feed/ dir because the rewrite rules create ‘virtual’ directories.
    Option – Permalinks
Have you set up rewrite rules using htaccess ?

Yes, maybe I don’t know how or haven’t set up rewrite rules properly? In Option – Permalinks at the bottom of the page is a scrollbar with lines like ‘rewrite engine on and more, related with feeds. when I click on “If your .htaccess file is writable by WordPress, you can edit it through your template interface”, this yields the message “Oops, no such file exists!”. Should I make an .htaccess file in my /blog directory and if so, what goes in it? Thanks for your help.

Right… Fixed. You pointed me in the right direction. Made an .htaccess file with the rewrite scripts. I didn’t realize I needed to do that. Much appreciated!

If you see the rewrite rules – and it sounds like you can – right-click in that box, and ‘Select All’, then ‘Copy’
Paste that into a new Notepad file.
    Save it as htaccess.txt
Upload to your wp directory using ftp
    Now rename it to .htaccess
    Job done 🙂
