Support » Plugin: Avatar Privacy » [Plugin: Avatar Privacy] Proxy gravatar requests

  • Hello,

To stop the leak of private information to gravatar.com, we can change gravatar links to point at /wp-content/avatar-privacy/gravatar-proxy.php?url=params… , which will fetch the gravatar from gravatar.com for the client, instead of having the client make the request directly. This also allows caching the images as appropriate.

Would this be something you’re interested in working on?

    Hi Mike,

sorry for not answering sooner. I only just now noticed that wp.org changed the link to the RSS feed for the support topics. 🙁

Regarding your proposal: Yes, that would be an interesting option. I am a bit cautious though to go down that road, as it seems quite a bit of work to get it right (saving the images on the server, implementing all kinds of cache and quota strategies) and right now I’m struggling to even find the time to bump the “compatible up to” info of the plugin. 😉

I’ll certainly keep this in mind, but I can’t make any promises.

    Greetings from Germany,
    Johannes
