Have you tried the wordpress home setting? when you say root URL? what do you mean
Deleted those other posts, sorry about that.
Kawsar,
I am not a programmer so excuse my probable misuse of technical jargon. On most of my blogs a default Home was created on the main menu at top of each page which just links to my index page i.e. http://www.domain.com (no permalink ID). However, with my blog below my Home page was created as a “Page” and if you click on it you can see the permalink . Just want to know how to get my HOME back to the default “index” page. I looked at several “how to create a home page” help sites but they all go into creating a “Static page” , etc

Andrea,
Tried to set a Custom permalink for the Homepage. Doesn;t accept it. And your other link doesn’t address my issue
Go to you Setting > General > Reading
You will see
Front page displays
From there change the page
Here is a screenshot
Do you have any caching plugin? Try Disabling all the plugins.
Well Kawsar , I tried it again and it worked. Thanks for your help!
