   I'd like to be able to add some additional fields to the standard WP user profile. Things like a phone number, author photo or whatever.

   Is anyone aware of any solutions or plugins that make this possible?

   if what you mean is that you want to add user data to your registration pages or to your user profile pages you can try the cimy extra fields plugin.
