I want to add a link to my sidebar. I have the code for the link.
    <img src=http://www.leftyblogs.com/button.gif border=0>
What do I do with this code? I have tried to add it to Blogroll and all I get is >> with no entry.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Login > Presentation > Sidebar
and edit that code directly into the sidebar just where you want it to be.
    That sound okay?

It sounds just great, but when I login>presentaton> I have only a choice of Themes, Theme Editor, and Header Image and Color --- Sidebar is NOT an option.

I looked at Theme Editor and it is all code. Unfortunately I don't know enough code to locate the place where I should insert the new code IF in fact that is what I should do.

    V 2.0.4

    Thanks again.

When your in the Blog's Control Panel, under: Presentation => Theme Editor

It has a sidebar on the right there, with names of the files, as links. Click on the sidebar one, it should bring in the code of that sidebar.php file.. and you should be able to edit then.

If need be, use an FTP client, in that theme's folder (wp-content/themes/that-theme-folder-name/), select all the files, and chmod 666:

    I hope this helps. =)

    spencerp,

Well, I sort of followed your instructions and edited in my code into What I assume to be the sidebar code.

I got the logo I wanted, but it is far to the left of anything else in the sidebar.

I've read here to not publish code or I would to show you.

Without seeing the code, can you explain how I would move the logo to the right -- to correspond to the other sidebar items?

    Thanks

OK, as usual perseverance pays off -- at least in appearance.
I got the logo where I wanted it, so that works out well.
I'm left wondering if I "cheated" with the code. Since I've read here that I shouldn't publish codes in this forum, is there a way I can get advice on that?
    Thanks for your help.

This is NOT an emergency. Please get back when you can.

As you can see, I've added the logo "Lefty Blog" to the end of the "Meta" listing.

I did this to take advantage of the existing code describing placement.

It looks OK, so I'm not sweating it, but I really want it to be a separate entity in the sidebar. When I attempted to do that, I lost the placement formatting and the logo ended up half in the post text.

    Thanks.

If you want to paste code for everyone to see, go here:
http://wordpress.pastebin.ca past the code in that window, choose for PHP content type. Then, hit submit button, grab the URL of the posted code you just made, and give it to us here. =)

As for cheating of the coding? I'm not sure what you've done really..

    <li><a href=http://www.leftyblogs.com><img src=http://www.leftyblogs.com/button.gif border=0></a>

Aren't you missing an ending </li> after the </a>? I dunno, maybe.. I'm seeing the code wrong.. =/

Oh, you re-edited your post now lol. Umm, hold a sec, let me check what you can do to make it a separate entity.

Copy your WHOLE sidebar.php file, into that http://wordpress.pastebin.ca place like I said above, post back here, with the link ok? =)

I'm here man, I even had it already setup on my test blog.. Please, let me know if something like this will work first ok? You can always change the name "Banners" to whatever you want then. ;) =)

If that will work for ya, here's the NEW sidebar.php file then. Grab from the <div id="sidebar"> all the way down to the </div>

    I hope this works.. =)
