• I have created a new web site (www.mesothelioma-abcs.com) and have installed Word Press this morning. I ftp’d the files to root (/). It sounds like many people copy them to /public_html. Is that where mine should be? The installation instructions said I could put them in the root directory.

I have problems when I try to run the install script. When I go to http://www.mesothelioma-abcs.com/wp-admin/install.php. I get these error messages:

    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have read all the documentation, but I still need help! Thanks. Jeanne

Yes. EVERYTHING that is/will be in your website – should be under public_html.
    That’s your “root”, always.

Is there an easy way to move these from / without moving something I need?

    Thanks!

Your shouldn’t touch anything that is outside of your public_html folder.
Delete the WP files/folders from there and put it/upload in the right place.
    Then install it.

I am not sure what you mean. The files I uploaded went into the / folder not the public_html folder. Things like wp-content, wp-admin, .fantasticodata, and all the rest are in the / folder. Don’t I need to delete or move all that stuff that should not be in /? Thanks.

    That’s the problem.

You should delete from there [/] ONLY what you put there:
    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-includes – these are folders
AND all the WordPress files below.

Then upload all the WP things into public_html.

If totally confused… ask for help:
