How to clear a password from a password protected page? (5 posts)

    Hi

    Is there a way to clear a password for a password protected page so that a viewer is required to enter the password each time they visit that protected page? Right now it seems to cache the password so even if you quit your browser and restart it, the computer will still remember the password when you view that page.

    There's nothing in options that lets you do that, I'm afraid.

    The password is saved in a cookie, so you'll be able to see that post until you delete the cookie -- but only the computer used to "log in" to that post will be able to see it. It doesn't unlock it for the whole world or anything ;)

    Ah! Thats to bad. Do you know of a plugin that adds that functionality to a post? Something that maybe even adds in a username requirment as well?

    I'm very new to WordPress. Frankly, I don't have time to learn what i need to do so I'm hoping someone can just tell me. I do know php so if you can just tell me the file and where to look...

    I'm leaving on a vacation in ONE WEEK. I created a WP blog to help me communicate my trip experiences to my friends and family. As well, I made a password protected page where i could store important information in case my documentation gets lost or I get robbed. Things like my traveller's check serial numbers, passport id numbers, flight info, etc. I'll be logging in from various PUBLIC computers, and this whole cookie storing passwords in clear text thing really bothers me.

    There must be some way to simply disable the cookie so that it asks every time, right? I don't mean disable cookies on the client... I mean in the code.

    Any ideas on where to look? Like I said, I'm a few hours experienced with WP :) I'm sure I could find it given more time, but I don't have it, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
