    Hi

I am really thankful for the help I’ve gotten here so far πŸ™‚

I have a new question: http://www.toonhaze.com/ On the upper side of my site the black area with my website description is too big. How do I shrink it down or remove it temporarily? And how do I remove the “Toonhaze Entertainment // Rage & Gaming Cartoons” without removing the title it self from the code?

I guess that area is meant for banners, which is why I don’t want to remove it permanently. But I sure have a backup of the theme.

Can someone please tell me how?

    Best regards

    -Alex

P.S. I use Twelve Eleven theme.

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

Ok thank you. When I’ve created a child theme how do I remove the upper portion of my website?

You really need to go back to the start, upload a fresh copy of Twenty Eleven and move all of your existing customisations into the new child theme.

I will do it. But the only things I did so far are:

1). changed the height of header and the image
    2). removed the search bar
    3). renamed “home” to “toons”
    4). edited the background color

    nothing big πŸ™‚

Then it shouldn’t be a problem to move these changes over to the new child theme.

Take esmi’s advice. Small changes quickly become big changes as you make minor css modifications, then a few lines of php, then maybe change the animation speed of something in jQuery, etc etc etc.

Best practices are there for a reason.

you can ‘remove’ the site title and tagline by the tick of a box under dashboard – appearance – header – Header Text

if you want to reduce the space, try working with a tool such as Firebug http://getfirebug.com/ to identify which styles to edit; this also has been answered before in this forum.
